Remember the balloon-levitated house from the animated Pixar flick UP? Well that cinematic image has been brought to life.

On the morning of March 5th, scientists, engineers, and two certified balloon pilots floated a 16X16 foot house that was 18 feet tall using 300 multi-colored weather balloons, those that are designed to be able to withstand air pressure at high altitudes. Photographers and videographers from the National Geographic Channel were there to document the entire event. This successful flight launched itself into history as a world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted.

The balloon house reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet, and flew for about an hour before it floated slowly back to earth.
