Kraftwerk iPhone App Uses GPS In Music Composition

By John Ryan on March 18, 2011

Famed German group Kraftwerk, “The Beatles of Electronic Dance Music,” have released a music-generating app for iPhone and iPad. Co-designed by Norman Fairbanks, the app uses GPS to play time-zone-specific compositions which can be altered by the user with sequencer and effect mixer interfaces, all in the Kraftwerk trademark retro-futurist green-on-black style. On his blog, Fairbanks hints that a version for Android is on the way and future updates with further exploit GPS to create real-time, location-based compositions.
