Featured as part of Wanted Design’s New York Design Week, David Trubridge‘s exhibited his Seed System Design, a flat-pack method of shipping and design that unfolds into a set of hanging lamps. According to Inhabitat, Trubridge developed a new parametric software program to determine the most efficient way they could be freighted as a kit set that would allow for easy portability and easy assembly at any destination.
Trubridge explains the importance of sustainability in his work:
We are continually doing all we can to reduce our environmental footprint. Reducing the volume of our freight has the most impact and is the best thing we can do, so we created the Seed System to send our lights as kitset.
