The hotel, scheduled to open next year, provides an Apple Mac mini, 40″ LCD TV, free high-speed Internet and a full range of Office software in each room.
Welcome to the future of hotel room entertainment. The Sofitel So Bangkok, opening early 2012, will boast a large variety of digital features and Apple-based connectivity. Each of its 238 rooms will be equipped with an Apple Mac mini, which will function as a multimedia center, offering guests digital TV, radio channels, movies, music library, DVD and CD player, and the ability to play your personal iPod, iPhone and iPad. Useful features for business users include a full range of Office software, free-high speed Internet, wireless keyboard, trackpad and DirectStreams software that wipes clean your use and restores the computer to its original state at check-in and check-out.
Guests can also browse the hotel directory and in-room service menu and watch a webcam screening of the Bangkok skyline with panoramic views on the high-definition 40″ LCD TV. If you book one of their suites you will also have the complimentary use of an Apple iPad. The general manager, Mr. Gilles Cretallaz, said:
Today, the personal computer is integral to an evolving lifestyle, the digital lifestyle, and people are coming to expect that what is central to their lives at home and in the office should also be available when they travel. This is what we are providing, meeting needs in a way that guests are now coming to expect. It’s all part of what the Sofitel So brand represents – the recognition of a new generation of urban hotels that are technologically innovative and design oriented. It is also a very ‘green’ concept as with more on screen, the less paper used and the less waste.
