At this point it’s almost habitual – you meet someone, even for just a moment, get their name, go home and add them on Facebook. It can be a fairly impersonal perfunctory process where the adding of the friend becomes distinct from the in person meeting. A new iPhone app called FriendThem seeks to make the friending of people more immediate and direct while also establishing more geo-locative potential for Facebook friending.
The app makes the process simpler and more personalized as well by filtering which information to share where and with whom. Depending on what and how much information a person has chosen to share online finding them can be daunting. It not only expedites the friending ritual but also preempts it as a means of meeting new people through similar interests and close proximity.
