“Grow” Campaign Will Fight Global Food Shortages

By Don Michael Acelar De Leon on June 7, 2011

Oxfam, a UK-based NGO, launched a full campaign to combat poverty titled “Grow,” focusing on global food injustice. Its key supporters areĀ former Brazilian president Lula Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, South African Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu, actresses Scarlett Johansson and Kristin Davis, supermodel Helena Christensen, and British TV presenter Zoe Ball. From Oxfam:

[The goal is] to build a better food system, one that produces enough for a growing population and empowers poor people to earn a living, feed their families, and thrive.
