Foodzy: New Social Network Awards Badges For Healthy Eating
Want or need to eat healthier? Now you can compare your eating habits to friends' on this latest iteration of a social network.
Amsterdam-based start-up Foodzy has just announced its worldwide launch. The website aims to provide a social network for those wanting to eat healthily, giving them incentives in the form of badges, which they can unlock when they achieve certain goals. For example, eating 5 types of tropical fruit rewards you with the Coco Jambo badge.
Foodzy assigns every product a certain amount of ‘bits’ (a simple conversion of calories). Users keep track of what foods they eat and can then view detailed statistics of their consumption habits, the amount of bits they eat per day, favorite products, and friends that have similar eating habits.
People can sign up for a free Foodzy Lite account or upgrade to Foodzy Pro for $15 a year, which upgrades the services available to them. Mobile apps for iPhone and Android will follow later this month, making it easier to add food right after you’ve eaten it.
