A Canoe That Fits Into Your Backpack

A Canoe That Fits Into Your Backpack

The Ad Hoc folding canoe helps rowers take their boating anywhere without the hassle of carrying anything bulky.

Don Michael Acelar De Leon

Campers and rowing enthusiasts are always on the lookout for canoes that are sturdy yet lightweight, but a foldable canoe has still been unheard of. That was until Tsor Industrial Design’s Ori Levin creates a working prototype of a canoe that can be folded into a backpack.

Aptly named the “Ad Hoc,” the canoe weighs in at only 4.1 kg and is made of  carbon fiber and aramid,  a strong, light, and heat-resistant synthetic fiber used in racing sails.
