Free songs and spotlighted artists on offer to those signed up to the Music Beta service.

Google has just launched a new blog offering Music Beta users the opportunity to discover new artists and tracks and add free songs to their music collection.

Magnifier features a free ‘Song of the Day’, a handpicked ‘Google Artist of the Week’ and a spotlight feature (the first band is My Morning Jacket and you can watch an exclusive video interview, add their new single and a live track to your library). There is also a free song archive split into genres, which holds hundreds of different tracks.

Google’s Music Beta service lets you upload your personal music collection to the cloud but it still lacks the option of either purchasing songs and albums or streaming them. Magnifier gives users the chance to add a few new tracks and “reignite your passion for music”.
