A concept retail environment for department store Bloomingdales in Santa Monica Place, California is using satellite dressing rooms and telephones to add convenience to the shopping experience. drop-down dressing pods supplement primary fitting rooms with airy, private spaces to try on clothes quickly without having to leave the sales floor. Made from opaque fabric stretched across lightweight framing, the pods can be raised to the ceiling for in-store events, filling the requirement of fitting rooms without the set allocation of space. In primary fitting rooms, newly installed telephones invite shoppers to connect with sales staff for convenient resizing and support.
