The Future Human: AR Digital Skins [Pics]

The Future Human: AR Digital Skins [Pics]

A designer and AR company try to blur the boundaries between the real and virtual world.

Emma Hutchings

Designer Jenny Lee, in collaboration with creative services agency Holition, has developed augmented reality face masks called digital skins. The idea behind these is that users will wear AR bionic contact lenses that would enable them to see the virtual identities of others, who have designed their own digital skin to change the way they are perceived. Lee writes:

Inspired by morphogenesis and mineral crystalisation processes, a series of radical non-human like aesthetics were fashioned, to engage the public to consider if we have the tools to-redesign ourselves, would we still look, feel and be human?
