At Facebook’s f8 developer conference in San Francisco, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a slew of new site features and design changes. One of the most highly anticipated of these is the Timeline, to be launched in the next few weeks. Much of the work on this service, which organizes users’ past photos and status updates, was led by infographic guru Nick Felton.
Felton’s work has been featured in Wired, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, and he has been referred to as the ‘god of data visualization.’ Felton turns sets of data from the most mundane aspects of life into compelling works of art, so it is no surprise that Facebook hired him this past April to summarize our lives in Timeline.
At our PSFK Conference New York 2010, Nick shared the inspiration behind telling his life story through numbers, graphs, and charts.
