Google Projects Rise In Mobile Shopping This Holiday Season

By Emma Hutchings on September 9, 2011

Google has projected on their Mobile Ads blog that 15% of all searches will be from mobile devices this Black Friday (November 25th) and that 44% of searches for last minute gifts and store locator terms will be from mobile devices this holiday season.

According to Google, many advertisers don’t realize that mobile users actively search for gifts and stores to purchase them from. Retailers should do more to engage their target audience on mobile devices. They should ensure their sites render well when viewed on a smaller screen and make top-selling items easy to find on mobile versions of websites. Last minute gift ideas, gift cards and sale items should be included on the mobile site, and the store locator needs to be easy to find and use.
