Gucci Celebrates 90th Anniversary With Gucci Museum

By Alice Chan on September 30, 2011

Gucci has opened the Gucci Museo, located in Florence, in honor of the clothing brand’s 90th anniversary. Located in the ancient building of Palazzo della Mercanzia, which dates back to 1337, the museum offers 18,460 square feet over three floors detailing Gucci’s history. Additionally, the museum boasts a private basement with Gucci archives as well as a 1979 limited edition Cadillac Seville designed by Guccio Gucci’s son, Aldo, upholstered and decorated with the brand’s GG monogram and green-red-green stripes. The Gucci Museo is arranged by theme, not in chronological order. The first floor, for example, is dedicated to the Flora World – the iconic motif that has been interpreted many times on various products, from perfumes to shoes. The contemporary Fiat 500C by Gucci will be joining the car collection soon and plans to expand the other collections are already underway.
