Footwear Designer Creates High Heeled Birds [Pics]

By Emma Hutchings on October 12, 2011

Freelance designer Kobi Levi uses the shoe as his canvas for artistic footwear creations. His ‘Birds series’ consists of high heels made from leather, crafted into the recognisable shape and color of a toucan, mallard and swan. All of his designs are hand-made in his studio.

The piece is a wearable sculpture. It is “alive” with/out the foot/body. Most of the inspirations are out of the “shoe-world”, and give the footwear an extreme transformation. The result is usually humoristic with a unique point of view about footwear.

Levi graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem. He specializes in footwear design and development and has designed commercial footwear in Italy, China and Brazil. He is currently working on his women’s shoe line in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
