Online retailer unveils a 24-hour ‘shoppable storefront’ with QR codes and designer picks.
eBay teamed up with designer Jonathan Adler to launch a ‘shoppable storefront’ on 404 Park Avenue South in New York City.
The storefront features various products chosen by top trendsetters who were asked to compile their fall shopping wishlists. Items are accompanied with QR codes, which shoppers scan using the eBay app. Scanning a code brings the user to a buy page in the app–hence the 24-hour shopping experience.
Richelle Parham, chief marketing officer of eBay North America commented on the reasoning behind the project:
Consumers today expect to shop how they want, when they want – and mobile technology is blurring the lines between online and offline retail to meet this demand. The Inspiration Shop brings to life how eBay enables people to immediately act on their passion for shopping in this new commerce environment. Collaborating with a creative visionary like Jonathan Adler helps us present this innovative experience in such a chic and compelling way.
Download the app, go check out the storefront, and let us know what you think! How was the experience? Did you like it more or less than traditional shopping or online shopping? Drop us a line on our Facebook page.
