Macy’s Festive AR App Brings Children’s Characters To Life

By Emma Hutchings on November 17, 2011

Macy’s has released ‘Believe-o-Magic‘, an augmented reality Christmas app for smartphones and the iPad. At Believe Stations in-store, youngsters can pose with fully-animated, life-size characters from Macy’s animated holiday classic “Yes, Virginia,”, the story of the real-life girl who wrote a letter to the New York Sun in 1897 asking if Santa truly exists.

Users are able to play with an augmented reality sneak peek version at home and in the store they can choose their favourite character, take photos and then customize a virtual Christmas card. There is a selection of designs to frame the photos, seasonal stickers to decorate the cards, and you can add a message and share them online.
