Peter Seid and Phu Nguyen from Romotive have developed the Romo that allows anyone to turn their smartphone into a fully functional and programmable robot. The project initially started on the crowd funding site Kickstarter and has gained tremendous support. With still more than a week to go, it has received 806 backers and has pledged nearly $80,000. For pledging just $78 or more, the backer will receive a Romo smartphone robot kit early next year in 2012.
The Romo is able to ‘learn, grow and change’ by adding new hardware modules or through software apps and coding. Some functions include the spy feature, the color tracking app and you can also program it to bring you a can of soft drink.
