William Shatner Warns Against Turkey Fryer Fire [Video]

Insurance company State Farm invited Canadian actor William Shatner to star in a series of videos warning viewers the dangers of frying turkey this Thanksgiving. The video titled ‘Eat, Fry, Love’, a ‘turkey fryer fire cautionary tale’, is a mix of drama, humor and seriousness. Shatner gave anecdotes of his own experience with the turkey fryer that often led to disastrous catastrophes, including catching on fire and nearly burning his house down.

Although the videos are light hearted, there’s a serious message to be learned by them. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), deep fryer fires result in more than $15 million worth of property damage each year and the U.S. fire departments respond to over 1,000 fires each year involving deep fryers.
