Dine With Far Away Family & Friends At Wieden + Kennedy’s Virtual Holiday Dinner

Dine With Far Away Family & Friends At Wieden + Kennedy’s Virtual Holiday Dinner

By Emma Hutchings on December 19, 2011

Advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy’s Amsterdam office is hosting virtual holiday dinners for friends and family to gather via Skype. Five dolls can be dialled into and controlled using custom facial tracking software and guests’ faces will be shown on flat screens on top of the dolls.

Guests reserve 30 minutes at the agency’s dedicated website for themselves and four others, and at the time they booked they all call in using Skype. The room that the dolls are sitting in adds to the holiday spirit, with a paper turkey and seasonal decorations.

This is the second year that Wieden + Kennedy’s Amsterdam office has hosted the virtual holiday meal, but this year it added the choice of three themed dinners: “Business as Usual,” “The Overly Friendly Christmas Dinner” and “Resolutions.” These holiday dinner plays include scripts, which show up on individuals’ screens when it’s their turn to speak, and they receive a video of the performance at the end.
