Detroit Debut For A California Electric Car Maker

By Dave Pinter on January 12, 2012

While not yet large enough to be called the EV Big Three, three electric vehicle car manufacturers based in California have each now had a presence at the Detroit Auto Show. Tesla, Fisker and finally CODA Automotive have joined the larger brands on the the show floor inside Cobo Hall. CODA, headquartered in Southern California has constructed the most elaborate show stand of all to date. The stand has a friendly and distinctly West Coast feel.

Dozens of natural wood panels were suspended from the ceiling containing phrases such as Discover, Change, Reduce and Learn.

Dominating the floor was a mosaic wall composed of panels containing plants, CODA brand images and messaging and video. In front of the wall was a bar where visitors could chat with a CODA representative or browse digital content via tablets on the bar top.

CODA’s main message throughout their show stand was relating to reducing driving range anxiety. Their single model on offer gets best in class range on a single charge and a large map aimed to show consumers potential distances they could drive without stopping to recharge.
