US videogame developer Activision is set to launch a game called 'Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure' that incorporates physical toys into digital gameplay.

In our research for the Future Of Gaming report, the PSFK consulting team explored the ways developers are making their games compelling and accessible to a wider audience. One example of innovation in Game Functionality And Systems is ‘Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.” US videogame developer Activision is set to launch a game called ‘Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure’ that incorporates physical toys into digital gameplay. The official Skylanders toys join the virtual world of the game when place on a sensor platform or ‘portal’ that is plugged into a gaming console. The game can be played on multiple platforms like the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, or even via an iPhone app. The toys store information about their progress in the game, so users can play with the same characters on different devices.
