A man in Japan has uploaded a YouTube video to show how he was able to take his virtual girlfriend to the park and even interact with her. The user utilizes the Asus Xtion Pro sensor and a pair of video goggles. The video below shows the virtual character strolling around in the park, even going behind objects such as trees. The augmented reality girl was even able to react when the man hits her on the head.

The programmed girlfriend shown is Hatsune Miku, a popular virtual pop idol in Japan. Miku is completely computer-generated and voice-synthesized to combine voices of 20 people into one soundtrack. The virtual celebrity has had all her four of her concerts in Tokyo sell out.
