Having music-on-the-go may be easier today than in John Cusack’s boombox-toting days in Say Anything, but always carrying an iPod and headphones isn’t the most convenient or fashionable thing. To solve this fashion vs. music dilemma, designer Rebecca Minkoff has created a stylish accessory that also doubles as a speaker. Designed in collaboration with STELLÉ Audio Couture, the STELLÉ Rebecca Minkoff Limited Edition Clutch looks like a designer bag from the outside, but when opened, is a Hi-Fi audio system with integrated digital stereo Bluetooth.
Minkoff speaks of the collaboration:
I am truly excited to design this collection with STELLÉ Audio Couture. Their vision for building beautiful, premium consumer electronics aimed at fashionable females is so refreshing and innovative. It’s the perfect collaboration for me to expand my label into electronics without sacrificing my signature design aesthetic in any way and I look forward to seeing our audio Clutch on the runway.

The clutch made its ‘loud’ debut during Minkoff’s New York Fashion Week show, with model Hilary Rhoda playing ‘DJ’ as she walked down the runway. The clutch wirelessly streams music from any connected Bluetooth-enabled device up to 50 feet away; the ‘stylish audio accessory’ will be available later this fall for purchase.

Diane von Furstenberg may have made a splash by wearing Google Glasses on the runway, but the Audio Clutch is a much more attainable, ‘ready-to-wear’ merger of fashion and technology.
