Artist and underwater naturalist Jason deCaires Taylor has created a series of houses underwater that will act as habitats to sea creatures. The ‘Urban Reef’ project came about due to rising pollution levels in the ocean that has caused corals to die off. Corals not only balance the ecosystem, but they also provide shelter to many marine life.
Taylor has created these creative sculptures to provide a new home for fish and crustaceans. The unique underwater homes mainly reside off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. Taylor’s underwater sculpture park in West Indies is now listed as one of the Top 25 Wonder of the World by National Geographic.
