Silvercar aims to streamline the rental process by offering technologically-advanced systems and only one type of vehicle.
Austin, Texas-based rental car service Silvercar will offer streamlined operations, a seamless smartphone user interface, and only one type of vehicle: silver 2013 Audi A4s. Customers can book reservations through a smartphone app, which will also let them manage personalized vehicle settings and preferences. They will be able to choose and unlock their rental car by scanning it with their phone.
A driver’s previous preferences, such as destinations entered on their itinerary, will automatically load on the Audi in-dash multimedia interface when unlocked. Silvercar hopes to eliminate the pain point of unexpected rental substitutions by providing customers with a premium car, every time. There are no check-in lines or traditional counters at Silvercar locations. Customers who book in advance will be able to go straight to Silvercar’s inventory of 2013 Audi A4s and those who haven’t will have access to self-serve kiosks and on-site concierges. Silvercar CEO Luke Schneider said:

The service is set to launch in late 2012 and promises a rental cost comparable to standard or full-size cars from other rental companies.
