A different way to think about modeling: how do you find the ‘unconventional’ characters that are often featured in ads, movies, and TV shows? People with interesting looks are recruited by the London-based Ugly Models Agency, which seeks unique-looking talent.

They represent people who are extremely tall, very small, fat, stretchy, heavily tattooed and pierced. This includes a man named Sultan Kosen, who is 8ft1, and a lady called Elaine Davidson, who has 2,520 piercings. The agency has a unique outlook on modelling, and states:

No one is too abstract for our books! We are Ugly. And we are the leaders in character modelling… We hand pick all our models to make sure we have a look for every market. With over 1,000 models on our books ranging from 18-100 years old, sizes 6-30, we have the most individual, wacky and peculiar looks in the industry; from trannies to grannies, burlesque to bikers, wee folk to rock blokes! We have the rarest and most eye-catching individuals in the country.
