Foursquare For Cocktails Shares What Friends Are Drinking In Real-Time

Elixr allows friends to comment, share and photograph beverages and highlight bars where you can find them.

If you’ve ever had an amazing cocktail, noted down its name and locale, but lost that precious slip of paper, Elixr can solve your problems. The new app, available for iPhone and iPod, permits users to snap shots and make comments on delicious, or not so delicious, drinks, as well as check in to see where your friends are drinking.

The service, released earlier this month, has already garnered several positive reviews on the App store. It was founded by Marc LaFountain, Jeff Rock and the Mobelux team. LaFountain is based in Switzerland, while his partners work out of Richmond, Virginia. The group is no stranger to success–Mobelux was responsible for Tumblerette, which was later acquired by Tumblr and re-packaged as an iPhone version of the popular blogging site.

Besides sharing, photographing and noting, users can submit thoughts and images to other social network sites to further the exposure of their discoveries. One caveat: given its content, the app is only available for people over 17 years of age.
