Now brides and grooms can keep saving their wedding ideas when on the go.
Wedding site Lover.ly has grown in scale and perception from humble beginnings as a ‘Pinterest for weddings’ and is now getting an iPhone friendly version. The website, which was recently revamped, will be available in app form; particularly useful given that, according to The Next Web, the site draws in 30% of its users from mobile devices, of which 80% access it from iOS.
The app will retain many of the features available on the original site, but it will have an added social networking component to it that makes use of the iOS camera capability. Users will be able to snap pictures of wedding-related items that interest them to share with selected buddies. Like the newly-redesigned site, the iOS service is easy to navigate, and visuals feature heavily.
Inspiration for the site, which was launched in 2011 and garnered half a million dollars in financial backing in February 2012, came when the founder Kellee Kahlil was helping a friend decide on wedding garb. As she said to Techcrunch:
She [her friend] was snapping photos and texting them to her dad…This was something where she didn’t want to share on Facebook, or share that on Pinterest or Instagram, because it’s a private thing. But she wants to be able to share those experiences.
Others evidently had the same thought. Kahlil added that site users are very enthused and many visit multiple times a day, spending around 10 minutes browsing.
