Design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai created a line of pieces with components made from different foods.
Design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai has created a collection of four conceptual objects that repurpose different foods as finishes to cover the basic metal structures. The edible furniture collection consists of the Hard Candy coffee table, Chocolate chair, Grains sofa, and Hardtack table.
Each object has elements that can be eaten, leaving a minimalistic design underneath. Dezeen reports that the coffee table is topped with a large hard-boiled sweet, the chocolate chair has 24kg of white chocolate, the sofa has a backrest made from rice bricks with a cotton quilt full of dried beans, and the table top has been baked into a cracker and balanced on tins of corned beef.
The collection was displayed at the Padiglione Italia’s Foodmade exhibition in Milan. Click through to see pictures of the edible furniture:
