Engineering boutique Rock Paper Robot specializes in the innovation and fabrication of high-end kinetic furniture and lighting. Their ‘Float Table’ is a tactile and engaging piece of furniture that encourages people to touch it.
It consists of “magnetized” wooden cubes that levitate with respect to one another. These repelling cubes are held in equilibrium by a network of tensile steel cables within the structure.
Described as “classical physics applied to modern design,” each handcrafted table is precisely tuned to seem rigid and stable. However, when touched, it reveals the secret to it’s dynamic character.
