The Kitchen Safe is a plastic container with a lock rigged to a timer to help people avoid temptation. The lock can be set for any amount of time ranging from one minute to ten days, and it can’t be opened until the timer reaches zero.

The time-lock container can be used for food, gadgets, toys, money, and almost any other items you want, but shouldn’t have. You simply place the item inside the Kitchen Safe, close the lid, set the timer and press the button.

The Kitchen Safe measures 15.2 x 15.2 x 16.5 cm and works inside a refrigerator, but not a freezer. The timer requires two AA batteries, which should last around 6 months. If they run out or are removed, the lock will stay sealed and the countdown will resume once they’re replaced.

The container features a smooth, simple interface with a custom-made LCD display featuring high contrast characters that are easy to read. It is BPA-free and uses industry standard materials safe for storing food.

The Kitchen Safe is available on Kickstarter to backers who pledge $29 or more and has almost reached it’s $30,000 goal. You can check out the campaign video below and click through to see images of the time-lock container:
