Designer Allan Wexler turned a sheet metal storage space into a guest house, complete with pull out table and chairs.
Allan Wexler has worked in the fields of architecture, design and fine art for forty five years. For one of his past projects, he transformed a storage shed into a guest house, complete with furniture that pulls out from the walls.
‘Vinyl Milford’ is a mass-produced, vinyl coated sheet metal shed, common in suburban American backyards. As the building was too small for a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining room, the equipment and utensils bulge out of the walls.
This creates “ghost-like forms” of the interior furniture on the outside. When the table and chairs or the bed is needed, they can be pulled from the wall to inhabit the space. Click through to see images of Wexler’s design:
