Famed photographers Bruce Weber and David Bailey used a Nokia Lumia 1020 to shoot everyday life on Harlem streets. The candid shots capture the hustle and bustle in this NYC enclave, and pay homage to its iconic landmarks.
The photographers worked together for the first time on the project, which showcases the imaging capabilities of the new Nokia device and its camera grip accessory. On July 18th, they captured over 1,000 images in Harlem, bringing to life everyday street scenes in the famous New York community.
These images will be featured in exhibitions scheduled to take place globally this year. The first one will be in London at the Nicholls & Clarke Building in Shoreditch between 13-21 September and feature about 60 photos from the campaign. Nokia will also be publishing some of the fruits of the collaboration online. Weber said:
Harlem has been in so many films and books and paintings too and I really thought it would be a place David would love. I live in New York City and it’s where I work and it’s where I have my six dogs and I am really proud to say I am here and still a Knicks fan and so I want to show David my neighbourhood. That is how we ended up there.
