Oyster is an iPhone app that gives users access to more than 100,000 books from leading publishers at a monthly rate.
New York-based startup Oyster has launched a Netflix-style e-reading app for the iPhone. It gives users access to more than 100,000 books from leading publishers at a flat monthly rate.
Fast Company reports that they can sort by genre, browse what’s popular, and share their Oyster activity on their social media channels. An activity feed also displays what their friends on Oyster are reading, rating, and saving for later.
For $9.95 a month, users can read as many e-books as they like from publishers including HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Smashwords. Once they find something they want to read, they simply need to tap it to start flicking through right away.
Oyster conveniently makes the last ten books the user opened available offline, so they can read them when they don’t have an Internet connection.
