To design the wall of the Deutsche Telekom in Berlin, Onformative used the store’s Facebook post data.
Commissioned to design the Gallery Wall of Deutsche Telekom’s Berlin flagship, design studio Onformative was inspired by the brand’s strong Facebook presence. Telekom’s regular use of the social media network to communicate with customers informed the design, creating a wallpaper using the data found on their Facebook page.
The result was a wallpaper that at first glance appears to be a nice floral pattern, but upon closer inspection, is an intricate, artistic data visualization of Telekom’s Facebook interactions. Says Onformative on their project page:
Our idea was to bring that online communication back to the store and create a connection by producing a beautiful and meaningful data visualization generated from their Facebook posts.
The team used a custom application to gather and analyze the data. They then visually organized it into different leafs, representing different interactions such as likes and comments. For particularly important posts, the team included QR codes, so viewers could instantly access that post from their phone.
