Shuffle is a lifesaver when we start to get bored of our favorite music, but if you want something a little bit more suited to what you’re doing in real life, then you’ll love the Jalapeño Beat Maker. It’s a portable waterproof device that was created for snowboarding and other extreme sports, but it works just as well with gym workouts and other activities.

There are two modes to choose from; Multi- and One-Track mode. In Multi-Track mode the Jalapeño Beat Maker will mix up to 4 track layers, which can include Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals and more. These layers are synced so that you’re always in rhythm and always in tune according to the company. You can also create your own layers and upload them to create custom tracks.

One-Track taps into your personal library of music, and because it’s still in early beta stage, there’s no telling where it will end up. The company are open to ideas for what the one-track mode will entail, so don’t be afraid to give them some input if it’s the kind of device you could see yourself using.

Developed by Beat Farm, a startup that creates music-driven products, the Beat Maker is also running a campaign on Kickstarter which has less than a week left to go. The device starts at $199 for an early bird package, with an estimated delivery date of October 2014.
