Laptops and tablets almost can’t escape the kitchen misfortune of being caked with blotches of oil, flour and other gooey foodstuffs. Handy, a new web interface introduced by Flora, is looking to remedy this cooking fiasco. The online app uses webcams and gesture-control technology to help cooks tidy up their stations and keep their electronic devices mess-free.

Extremely easy to use, this touch-free “recipe player” lets cooks navigate controls with the swipe of a hand. To access its awesome features, simply paste the URL of the video into the box on the Handy website and wave. A left-to-right hand gesture will play the video, whilst a right-to-left one will pause it. As an added treat, you can save your favorite cooking tutorials online to create your very own virtual cookbook.

Currently, Handy is only compatible with Chrome browsers, but will play any YouTube video. Try the very cool feature for yourself here.
