Users simply paste their text and the site will analyze it, focusing on making sentences clear and simple, eliminating adverbs and avoiding the passive voice – points that Ernest Hemingway considered the key things to creating good prose. The app uses an algorithm to analyze any piece of writing and then color-codes areas that may need improvement, and recommends replacement words of force.
Although it can’t be taken as a replacement for a human editor, the Hemingway app can be a good way for writers to check or review their work on their own, as well as be reminded of basic grammar or writing rules.
