The network’s new ads show why sometimes it’s better to watch your favorite movies or series in private.


The new campaign for HBO Go includes seven videos featuring all-too familiar awkward moments where kids and their parents are watching sex scenes or graphic nudity on television. The campaign was created by creative agency SS+K with O Positive Films.

The videos feature two young adults and their parents watching HBO shows like Game Of Thrones, Girls, True Blood, True Detective, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. They are all watching silently until one of the parents pipes in with a comment about sex and relationships or questions about the actors. Of course, these result in the kids looking more uncomfortable than ever. The videos end with a line that says, “Might be a good time for HBO Go,” and a voice over saying, “HBO Go. The best of HBO on all your favorite devices. Far, far away from your parents.”
