Solar-Powered DJ Booth Will Revolutionize Outdoor Entertaining

In the 60’s and 70’s people sat around campfires strumming guitars, while the 80’s and 90’s featured people carrying boom-boxes on their shoulders. This week, Yalp/ Lappset introduced the next phase of outdoor music performance with the Fono, the world’s first eco-friendly, outdoor DJ booth.

The Fono is a solar powered turn-table that is meant to be set up outside. It does not require prior DJ skills, and allows you to play music off of your smart phone. With cut, tempo, and loop options, the Fono amplifies the sound of the smartphone with a patented technology, and produces its own green energy by use of solar panels on the roof.

The Yalp/ Lappset collaboration designed the Fono to allow teenagers to be creative with music while getting out of the house, but the Fono can really be used by anyone. Yalp/Lappset is the Dutch subsidiary of the Lappset Group, a playground, sports equipment and themed activity parks designing and manufacturing company. Recently, Fono won a RedDot award, beating out 4,815 entries from 53 different countries. It is already in use in the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Australia, and the company has plans for a release in Ibiza in the near future.
