Tesla is taking vehicle retailing on the road with a new fleet of custom trailers that serve as mobile design studios. The automaker debuted the first of six Airstream trailers towed by a Model X at 1 Hotel Central Park in New York City. The mobile design studio fleet allows people to learn more about Tesla vehicles, see color and material options and get a vehicle walk-through with a Tesla product specialist.

PSFK took a tour of the first trailer which resembles a capsule dealership. There’s a material samples wall surrounded by countertop work areas and two computer workstations for reviewing vehicle specs.

The mobile design studios will travel to destinations like hotels, car shows and events. The trailer at Hotel Central Park will serve the NY area and will outside the hotel thru September 14. There’s a schedule of future location dates and locations on the Tesla Explores microsite. Or you can suggest a location to them to visit.
