Automobile Club of Romania is using Google technology to improve road education

Most people learn to drive not on the streets, but at their desks. Traditional driving schools most commonly rely on driving manuals and paper tests to teach the basic rules and regulations of the road; on-the-road education occurs only after extensive paper testing. Is waiting so long to put drivers on the road the smartest—or safest—teaching method?

The Automobile Club of Romania has devised a way to expose students to road driving more quickly. The club has developed the Street View Test, an interactive exam that takes students through scenarios in Google Street View to provide a realistic driver’s perspective.
