New York based hardware company Adafruit specializes in electronic DIY kits and they have designed a new project to step up selfie games everywhere. Because lighting truly is everything, the DIY selfie light or “Neopixel Ring Light” is meant to give every selfie that perfectly even distribution of light it needs. To actually make this yourself however, you will need a 3D printer, soldering skills, and knowledge on coding and circuitry.

The light has its own tripod and serves as a sort of halo around the smartphone it is servicing. It uses Adafruit’s Neopixel LED lights. “RGBW type of NeoPixels provide dedicated white light which produces much better color temperature,” reads the guide. The NeoPixels are small lights that can be chained to one another endlessly.

It also has batteries or the option to plug in to charge. Without counting machinery, the supplies to build this selfie light amount to around $60.
