Sony is promoting its new noise canceling headphones with psychologist-curated tracks that let passengers ease into their ride

Sony and Eurostar have partnered up to offer passengers a little mood boost through a special Sound Menu. Designed in collaboration with Senior Lecturer in Psychology of Music at Keele University, Dr Alexandra Lamont, the experience offers five playlist that either improve focus or help unwind after a long day at work.

To evoke different emotions, the playlists include varying styles and tempos of music. For example, Getting job done playlist features fast-high to medium-high levels of sound and not much pitch variability. Psyching up for a long day includes tracks with fast tempo, high pitch, building rhythms and rising melodic contours, whereas Being in the moment incorporates music to calm and center you with slow beats, simple textures and gentle rhythms, mixed in with some sounds of nature.

Sony’s collaboration with Eurostar comes as part of the company’s efforts to promote its new line of wireless, noise cancelling headphones 1000X.

The Sony Sound Menu will be available on Eurostar’s onboard entertainment system on all e320 and e300 trains from Thursday 27th April for one month.
