IKEA Is Working With Apple To Demonstrate Products At Home With AR
Apple's new ARKit will introduce augmented reality games and apps to iOS 11, and IKEA was named as one of its participants
At its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this June, Apple unveiled its new Augmented Reality Kit, on which developers will get to operate to bring more AR games and apps to the unreleased iOS 11 . One of the big names dropped at WWDC by Apple CEO Tim Cook was Swedish furniture favorite IKEA.
Cook said that IKEA’s app for the ARKit would bring 3D models of furniture products to showcase by holding up an iPhone screen. It grants customers the opportunity to sample how a piece of furniture would look in their home and how well it fits the existing decor. This IKEA AR technology has already been released for select Android phones.
This application is expected to launch later this year alongside the iOS 11.
