This Water Bottle Aims To Be A Complete Wellness System
Unlike other canteens, the Spring smart water bottle integrates to track hydration and monitor other important body vitals
We have seen a slew of interesting smart water bottles here at PSFK, and this new one joins a highly-acclaimed product line. The Spring smart water bottle is the latest addition to Bellabeat’s suite of women-focused health wearables.
The water bottle’s design is subtle and obviously not built to brandish its smart capabilities. A soft rubber grip wraps around the 16-fluid ounce glass body. Its cap and top are removable, and so is the base that contains the smart sensors. The sensor is powered by a replaceable battery that never needs charging.
Bellabeat has previously released wearables for women that double as stylish jewelry. With the Bellabeat app, the ecosystem provides physical activity monitoring, sleep statistics and a potent stress management system. The platform also has extensive support for monthly cycles and pregnancy monitoring.
Because of Bellabeat’s existing technologies, the Spring will do more than just measure intake, basing needs on averages. Using artificial intelligence and pairing it with the activity sensor, the Spring smart water bottle can adjust recommended intake on the go. For example, when a user spends 30 extra minutes on the treadmill, the system will automatically increase water intake requirements.
Nevertheless, the Spring is not Bellabeat’s most interesting product idea: that distinction goes to the Bellabeat fetal heartbeat monitor (and the company’s namesake). PSFK reported on the original Bellabeat, a wooden orb that expectant mothers can hold against their baby bump, in 2014. Since then, the idea has been reconfigured into Shell, a smartphone attachment. However the original fetal heart monitor’s exquisite wooden exteriors inspired the wooden exterior of Bellabeat’s health monitors.
The Spring bottle will retail for $89, Wareable reports. Though not yet available to order, customers can join a waitlist.
