With Instant Pickup, Prime members can order a convenience item from Amazon and have it available in minutes

Amazon has created a new Instant Pickup feature to supply select Prime and Prime Student customers with items they need on demand, effectively delivering them in a matter of minutes.

With Instant Pickup, a Prime customer using the Amazon app can choose from a varied list of products and have the order arrive at their location in two minutes or less. These items include snacks, beverages, personal care items and a number of technology essentials, such as phone chargers. The product gets delivered to the local self-service locker for the Prime customer to pick up at their leisure.

For now, the Instant Pickup service only operates in five locations, where Amazon has fully staffed pickup locations aimed at college students: Westwood in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Berkeley, Columbus, Ohio and College Park in Maryland. Amazon plans to expand the feature to additional areas in the next few months.
