The Mirage app lets users leave digital messages on real objects for others to discover

Leave behind a digital note with Mirage. The augmented reality app allows a user to take pictures of objects they see in the real world and create a digital message for others to find later.

Through the app, the user snaps a picture of the real-world object on which they’d like to leave a message. They can choose to leave a 3D emoji, an animated gif, text, a photo or a drawing over the object. When others with the app are passing near the hidden messages, Mirage sends a notification to their phone. The messages last for 24 hours; however, if a message receives enough votes from other users in the network, it will remain for a longer time. Messages show up as pulsing auras on the Mirage app’s map.

The app was made available for iOS on August 7.
