In Brief

Alexandre Echasseriau latest project uses electric paint and the Touch Board to create a unique touch sensitive musical wallpaper

The last word you might use to describe wallpaper is interactive, but that’s exactly what designer Alexandre Echasseriau was going for when he created  wallpaper that plays sounds and music upon being touched. Echasseriau used Electric Paint and the Touch Board to create an “experimental play space” which he simply calls Interactive Wallpaper.

The various designed created were made in collaboration with wallpaper design company Ugépa. When a portion of the wall is touched, a sound begins to play through a speaker, which people can add to and customize for their specific tastes. You can create a whole song just by touching different spaces on the wall. While it is not currently available for purchase, the wallpaper is designed to be fully customizable not just for designers but for sound designers and artists as well, to make each musical wall truly one of a kind.
